Sky High Director: Ryuhei Kitamura Year: 2003 Run Time: 122 mins Classification: 15 A serial killer is removing the hearts of his victims in order to gain super human powers from the spiritual realm. When one of his victims learns of this at the gate of resentment, she is given three choices. To ascend to the next life and be re-born. To haunt the Earth forever, or to curse and kill the one who has murdered her, whils wil result in her going to hell. STORY: It's one of the cheesiest Japanese movies I've seen so far. I'm not really a fan of cheesy films, so I wasn't overly impressed with the story, the acting, the characters or even the action scenes. CINEMATOGRAPHY: The cinematography is poor compared to most other Japanese movies. The continuity in particular is abismal. And many of the special effects & action scenes look unrealistic and far-fetched. It's like watching the lastest hollywood action flic. SOUND: The music is quite good, very good even, but the sound effects are ridiculously overboard and not realistic enough. They stand out like in a cartoon and don't seem necessary for the poor action scenes that they accompany. OVERALL: Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad film, but it's nothing spectacular either. If you like cheesy action movies you may well love this film, but I personally prefer movies to seem realistic and not insult the intelligence of the person watching it. Rating: 2 / 5 SCREENSHOTS:
