Dark Water [Honogurai mizu no soko kara] Director: Hideo Nakata Year: 2002 Run Time: 101 mins Classification: 15 A mother and her young daughter move into a creepy apartment block. They find strange goings on and discover there is water leaking through their ceiling. However, the room above them seems to be the source of some creepy events that haunt the pair throughout their stay. STORY: The story is very good, and is fast paced enough to keep your full attention. The acting is particularly good by almost all of the cast and helps portray a creepy disturbing suspense horror. CINEMATOGRAPHY: The camera work for this movie is top notch. Clever aesthetics, good editing and natural special effects help give this movie a realistic look and feel to it. Visual qualities in the film really stick in your mind (such as the little girl in the yellow rain coat, and leave you looking for her even when she's not there). SOUND: The sound compliments the story and visuals so seemlessly without distracting your attention from the action. The soundtrack during suspense moments has you gripping the arm of your sofa. OVERALL: A spectacularly gripping movie that will leave you in suspense a lot more than it shocks or scares you, but the story will keep you enthralled throughout the entire film. Another great movie from Hideo Nakata that everyone must see! Rating: 4 / 5 SCREENSHOTS:
